About Yashiro-san's right eye.

There is someone close to me who is monocular

About 10 years ago when I realized this,

I sometimes try closing my right eye to see what kind of world he sees.

(Before I knew it, I was able to wink with just my right eye lol)

If you try it, you'll see that

you can see surprisingly normally with one eye.

Your sense of perspective doesn't get that bad either.

That's why I felt something was odd when Yashiro missed the bathroom door twice and had a hard time getting the lock on. Even if there was the tension of being monocular and having Doumeki around. I could understand if it was just after he'd lost his monocular vision, but after four years, I don't think his sense of distance would be so affected. The most awkward scene was in chapter 36 at the beginning of volume 7, where he bumps into the door that Nanahara opened at the casino. It wasn't particularly comical, so I wondered why they included that scene. It's later revealed that he can't see with his right eye, but even if he's monocular, if he can see "properly" with the other eye, he wouldn't bump into the door, so I was like, "Hmm?" Yashiro's eyesight should be good to begin with. Nanahara, who has 1.5mm eyes, mistook Aoi for a boy, but Yashiro recognized her as a girl based on her facial features.

And then I remembered.

The song Yashiro sings while seeing off Kageyama in episode 1.

This is probably the ending song of The Rose of Versailles, "Light and Shadow of Love."

At this time, Yashiro thinks of himself as a shadow compared to the sun-like Kuga.

The "shadow" in The Rose of Versailles is Andre.

Andre loses sight in one eye due to an injury,

and gradually loses sight in his remaining eye,

but he goes to the battlefield for his beloved Oscar,

and is shot and dies, but...

...Huh?

Isn't that strange...?!

Maybe Yashiro's blindness was decided in episode 1.

Was his conversation with Nanahara about eyesight in episode 2 a foreshadowing?

And I think the vision in his left eye, which he can still see, has deteriorated considerably.

His right eye was taken by Hirata.

Half of him was consumed by the darkness of his own conflict with the Yakuza that he created.

He puts his hand over the broken mask as if to cover that darkness.

In his remaining left eye,

the Doumeki he saw back then in the light remains.

If Yashiro is a shadow,

Doumeki is a light to Yashiro.

He was supposed to have returned it to the light...

I'm worried that only Nanahara knows about his right eye (⁠-⁠_⁠-⁠;⁠)
